AfriTours is a marketplace connecting you with safari operators. Cancellation terms are set by each operator and may vary by tour. This policy describes our general approach and what you can expect. Your specific booking may have different terms—always confirm with your operator before or at the time of booking.
2. Cancellation by You
If you need to cancel, contact your operator as soon as possible. Many operators use cancellation windows similar to the following (your operator's terms apply):
- More than 60 days before departure: Often full refund or credit minus any non-refundable fees (e.g. permits, park fees).
- 30–60 days before: Partial refund or credit is common; a cancellation fee may apply.
- 14–30 days before: Refunds are often limited; a significant fee or no refund may apply.
- Less than 14 days or no-show: Typically no refund; full amount may be forfeit.
Deposits are frequently non-refundable once paid. Always ask your operator for their exact cancellation and refund policy before you pay.
3. Cancellation by the Operator
If an operator cancels your tour (e.g. minimum numbers not met, safety, or force majeure), they will typically offer a full refund, a credit for a future date, or an alternative itinerary. We expect our operators to communicate clearly and fairly. If you are not satisfied with the resolution, contact us and we will help facilitate a solution where we can.
4. Force Majeure
Events beyond anyone's control (natural disasters, pandemic, war, government travel bans, etc.) may lead to cancellations or postponements. In such cases, operators usually offer rebooking or credit; cash refunds depend on the operator's policy and their own recoverable costs. We recommend having travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption.
5. Refunds
Refunds are processed by the operator who received your payment, not by AfriTours. Timing and method (e.g. same payment method) follow their policy. If you paid via AfriTours or a partner, we will work with the operator to ensure you receive what you are owed under the applicable terms.
